Established in 2019, Circular Rubber Technologies, also known as CRT, is a Canadian clean tech startup with a mission to enable infinite reuse of the world’s rubber. Each year, 20 million metric tons of rubber are used to create new tires, with the majority ending up in landfills or being recycled into inferior applications at the end of their useful life. CRT's unique devulcanization method transforms end-of-life industrial tires into high quality reclaimed natural rubber that can be used in place of virgin rubber in the production of new tires. CRT offers a circular, tire-to-tire solution. CRT’s high quality product, clean process, global supply chain network and fully traceable solution provides tire manufacturers with a sustainable alternative to virgin rubber at stable cost levels with a much lower carbon footprint. CRT's first facility will be located in Western Canada, in proximity to oil sands operations in Northern Alberta and the mining centers of British Columbia. The company intends to establish multiple facilities in close proximity to the source of its raw materials (end-of-life mining tire feedstock), in order to efficiently and sustainably serve regional networks.
